Electricity and Water Authority Launches a New eService for Businesses and Institutions
The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has launched the "Close Electricity and Water Account" service for the business and institutional sector via the National Portal, bahrain.bh, in coordination with the Information and eGovernment Authority.
Ahmed Najeeb Al-Jamea, Director of Customer Services at EWA, confirmed that the launch of this service comes as part of the Authority’s strategy to develop its customer service sector, aiming to fully digitize all its services. EWA is currently working toward achieving 100% digital transformation in the near future.
He highlighted that this service specifically targets companies and institutions, allowing business owners and authorized signatories to easily submit requests to close their accounts through the National Portal. This contributes to faster processing times and reduces the effort and time required from customers.
Al-Jamea added that the "Close Electricity and Water Account" service allows for immediate account closure upon request, improving efficiency, flexibility, and the overall customer experience.
He also noted that the Authority has implemented an electronic integration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to enable this service effectively. This integration allows for real-time verification of commercial registration data without the need for customers to submit additional documents. Thanks to this integration, account closures are carried out automatically and securely, with commercial registration data verified electronically, eliminating the need for any paper documentation.
Al-Jamea explained that this initiative is part of a broader range of services under development by the Authority to enhance the customer journey and improve operational efficiency. The goal is to simplify procedures, provide a seamless user experience, and promote transparency and service quality.
This launch aligns with EWA’s commitment to keeping pace with technological and digital advancements by enhancing electronic integration with relevant entities. It aims to deliver fast and innovative services that facilitate customer transactions through the adoption of the latest digital solutions and strengthened collaboration with partner organizations.
