Empowering Businesses with KAFA’A
KAFA’A stands as the national program dedicated to increasing energy efficiency and promoting sustainable practices within buildings.
While primarily targeting high usage customers, the program's goal of reducing energy consumption is helpful to everyone. Bahrain's commercial and industrial sectors make up approximately 45% of the nation's total energy consumption, so improvements in energy efficiency within these sectors can help reduce energy costs, and ensure a more reliable energy supply for all customers.

Partnering for Progress
The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) collaborates with Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) to conduct energy audits and identify areas for improvement.
In addition to implementing energy-saving measures in public and private sector buildings. This collaboration results in decreased energy consumption and operational costs for businesses participating in the KAFA'A program. Together with 19 government buildings and 14 private ones, the Kafa'a program is projected to achieve 40,275 MWh in energy savings and 20,137 tonnes of CO₂ reduction in emission.

KAFA’A Pilot Project Success
The KAFA’A pilot project enhanced the energy efficiency of four government buildings.
It achieved a 41% reduction in energy consumption, and a reduction of 19,250 tonnes in carbon emissions. It includes 6 projects, saving 117,489 MWh, BD 3,407,173, and reducing CO2 by 58,744 tonnes. Figures are updated regularly as projects and savings accumulate.
