Kamal bin Ahmed: Launch of the new control center project for the electricity and water networks by the end of this year
His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed conducted a field visit to review the progress of the implementation of the new control center project for the operation and monitoring of the electricity and water networks. The project is scheduled to be launched by the end of this year and aims to enhance the capacity, efficiency, reliability, and quality of the electricity and water transmission and distribution networks.
His Excellency the President of the Authority pointed out that the project is part of the Authority’s strategic plans to develop and strengthen the core electricity and water networks by upgrading infrastructure according to the highest global standards. This is to keep pace with the growing demand for electricity and water services in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He added that the project will improve the operational effectiveness of the networks by detecting leaks and faults, isolating, and repairing them within record time to avoid energy and water wastage. It will also enable smart electricity distribution, load monitoring, and precise future planning based on actual needs, which will positively impact the quality of service provided and increase the speed of response by emergency teams to restore electrical supply during unexpected outages, all according to the highest operational quality standards.
His Excellency also noted that the project includes converting the existing control center into a backup center to be used in emergency situations, ensuring the continuity of operations and monitoring at all times. The new building will comprise four floors spanning 15,000 square meters and will house four control centers: two for electricity transmission and distribution, and two for water transmission and distribution.
