His Excellency Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, President of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), received His Excellency Eng. Ahmed Al-Ebrahim, Chief Executive Officer of the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA), in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the latest updates on ongoing joint projects among GCC countries and discussed future visions that support the region’s developmental objectives. Discussions also covered ways to further strengthen cooperation frameworks and adopt best practices to advance infrastructure development in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

H.E. Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed emphasized that the GCC electrical interconnection project is a strategic milestone in the region’s energy sector. It plays a vital role in reinforcing the shared energy infrastructure, ensuring mutual support during emergencies, and reducing energy production costs across GCC countries. He affirmed EWA’s commitment to deepening coordination with its Gulf counterparts to keep pace with the latest advancements in power and energy networks, ultimately benefiting all member states.

H.E. Mr. Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, commended the strategic significance of the GCCIA’s initiatives in fostering regional development and expanding the power infrastructure across member states in line with the highest technological standards. He underscored that the GCC electrical interconnection project stands as one of the region’s most prominent integration efforts, enhancing energy security, improving network efficiency, reducing costs, and supporting sustainable growth across the Gulf.
