Al Jasra Substation
This strategic project involves the construction of one 400 kV substation at Jasra and three 400 kV feeders connections to Riffa and Um Al Hassam 400 kV substation, in addition to reconfiguration of nine 220 kV and 66 kV feeders.
Key Project Facts:
Construction of a 400 kV power transmission station in Al Jasra, a key initiative in Bahrain's strategic development plan.
Involves extending three 400 kV underground cables over 130 km, and establishing a new 220 kV sub-transmission system spanning 100 km.
Enhances electrical connection between Bahrain and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, facilitating commercial energy exchange and strengthening transmission networks.
Upgrades the existing connection from 220 kV to 400 kV at the Al Jasra station.
Aims to mitigate overload on Riffa and Um Al Hassam Transmission Sub-Systems, ensuring stability and reliability of the electricity network.
Optimizes the use of energy produced from the second phase of the Al-Dur power and water production station, improving capacity and efficiency in transmitting electricity to major load centres.
Enhances the economic distribution of loads across production stations, supporting ongoing projects in the region.
The station is expected to be operational by 2026, aligning with Bahrain's long-term infrastructure goals and commitment to providing high-quality electricity and water services to all customers.
